Welcome to Celestial Empire, the Game of Galactic Conquest.
This site is intended to provide up-to-date information about in-progress games, site status and implementation details. It will also provide forums for feedback and discussion of rules, bugs and other issues.

An OS upgrade unfortunately took down most of the Celemp website a while back, and there just hasn't been enough free time to dedicate to resolving the issues. But the Christmas holidays presented an opportunity to get away from other commitments for a while, and the problems have been resolved.
The underlying software has been updated to the latest versions, which brings some improvements but also probably some minor issues.
Security should be much better, with CAPTCHAs on all submissions, so hopefully there won't be so much of a problem with spam comments (you may not have seen the problem, but your friendly admin sure did). If you had a picture associated with your login you'll probably have to reload it (sorry).
There may be some tweaking that still needs to be done, but we're looking forward to having active forums again and implementing the changes to the game engine so we can start some more games.
Update: I found the original images people had associated with their accounts, so you don't have to reload them. 1 comments

After many delays the Rules Party has been scheduled for this weekend to discuss the issues and comments arising from the last round of games, which concluded last summer. If you haven't yet RSVP'd to this invitation-only event please do so quickly.
If for some reason you feel you should be part of this event and haven't received an invitation please let us know via the Contact page. If you just have an issue that you'd like us to consider please make make your concerns known by posting to the forums provided for that purpose. The resolutions that come from this event will determine what changes will need to be made for the next round of games, and when those games can start.
Update:The results have been posted here for your review and comments. You're
encouraged to review the posting and become familiar with the changes even if you don't have an opinion to contribute.

| Several games have recently concluded, and as is typical, not without controversy. As is customary we will be opening a discussion of the games and how the rules might be changed to improve the experience in future events.
Please join us in the forums and help us make Celestial Empire better.
Update: We'd not only like to hear what you think should change, but how you spent the last six months! We created a new forum for discussing completed games. Stop in and share your experiences. Note: That forum will be closely watched. Any discussion of games in-progress will be removed.

Because of a sudden problem with spam postings in the forums, anonymous posting has been disabled. If you want to post in the forums you must now be a registered user. Registration is simple and easy, so this should not be a problem.
Update:Spam filtering has been added to the celemp.org email system.

| Look for changes in the rules, coming soon. After the chaos of games two and three a Rules Committee meeting was held to determine what needed to be fixed and how to do it.

Celestial Empire is a play-by-mail game of Galactic Conquest. Commands are submitted by email, and when the turn conditions are satisfied an updated status is emailed back to the player. Although simple in concept, the games can become very involved, and last for six months or more. Get the docs here
